[Overseas Market News] The North American power equipment market is poised for a double boost in 2026, with the simultaneous implementation of power supply facilities for AI data centers and nationwide ultra-high voltage transmission line upgrade projects, driving a surge in demand for high-voltage transformers, GIS switches, gas turbines, and energy storage systems.

Seven major US technology companies have signed cooperation agreements for self-sufficient power supply for AI data centers, equipping them with large-scale energy storage power stations and self-owned gas turbine units to alleviate the pressure on residential power supply. Domestically, a $75 billion ultra-high voltage transmission project has commenced, with 765kV high-voltage lines being laid in batches, resulting in full order books for leading equipment manufacturers. GE Vernova’s latest financial report shows that its power equipment orders reached $24.2 billion in the quarter, an 88% year-on-year increase, with gas turbine production capacity fully booked until 2028 and long-term orders locked in until 2031.

Constrained by insufficient domestic power equipment production capacity, the US market relies heavily on imports for medium- and high-voltage transformers and energy storage equipment. Although local authorities have gradually introduced import restriction policies, market-oriented scenarios such as data centers and industrial parks remain open, preserving ample market space for overseas equipment manufacturers.
